Research and Practice Development Groups

Research and Practice Development Groups and DEEP

Research and Practice Development Groups or RPDGs support research and practice development. They are groups of people who share a passion and interest in a common area.

DEEP supports several RPDGs touching on different aspects of social care. We can act as a catalyst for RPDGs and we can provide some support for existing RPDGs. However, RPDGs are independent of DEEP: DEEP does not ‘own’ or ‘manage’ RPDGs. Instead, we are just a link in the process.

How DEEP can support RPDGs

If you are an existing RPDG or want to form an RPDG read on to find out what help DEEP can provide.

First Steps

What you might want

How DEEP can help

To form a new RPDG

DEEP can bring people with similar interests together for an initial meeting to discuss whether the people present want to form a RPDG

To join an existing RPDG

DEEP can introduce you to existing RPDGs

Once an RPDG is established

What you might want

How DEEP can help

To decide how the RPDG will work and assign responsibilities

DEEP can help facilitate these discussions. DEEP may take on some responsibilities within the RPDG but they cannot be the chair or ‘lead’

To organise and hold meetings

DEEP can advertise RPDG meetings on the DEEP website and via the DEEP mailing list. We will endeavour to attend meetings whenever we are invited!

To advertise for new members

DEEP can distribute adverts on the DEEP website and via the DEEP mailing list. We will also connect people whenever opportunities arise. DEEP can provide each RPDG with their own page on the DEEP website if the RPDG provides the content for this page. Alternatively, we can provide a link to the RPDG website.

To plan a programme of work

If requested, DEEP can help facilitate a RPDG planning meeting using DEEP methods and principles

Final steps

What you might want

How DEEP can help

To end the RPDG or to merge with another RPDG

DEEP are happy to provide advice and consultation but any decisions about an RPDG must be taken by all its members
